Product Overview

The Acid Neutralizer Absorbent Shaker Cartons 12/case (REPLACED by AAN3005G) is a professional-grade AcidSafe granular neutralizing sorbent that absorbs, neutralizes, AND solidifies acid spills on contact. This sodium carbonate–based powder features a built-in pH color-change indicator — the purple granules turn dark gold on contact with strong acids and yellow/orange for mild acids, then return to purple when neutralization is complete to a safe pH range. No additional pH testing required.

Simply shake the AcidSafe powder onto the acid spill, agitate slightly, and watch the color change. Neutralization is complete in under 2 minutes. The resulting residue is a dry, solidified material that's easy to sweep up and dispose of. Ideal for battery charging stations, acid storage rooms, laboratories, chemical processing areas, and emergency acid spill response. Compatible with sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric, and most common acids. Not for use with hydrofluoric acid (HF).

Acid Neutralizer Absorbent Shaker Cartons 12/case (REPLACED by AAN3005G) | Acid Neutralizer & Spill Response

Why Acid Neutralizers Are Essential for Battery Operations

Lead-acid batteries are used extensively in forklifts, pallet jacks, aerial lifts, floor scrubbers, UPS backup systems, and telecommunications. During charging, batteries can boil over, leak, or spill sulfuric acid — creating serious safety hazards, equipment damage, and regulatory violations. OSHA requires facilities with battery charging operations to maintain acid-neutralizing materials on-site and readily accessible. The AcidSafe product line by WYK Sorbents provides a complete acid spill response system with built-in pH indication that eliminates guesswork during cleanup.

Engineered for Your Application

This AcidSafe granular neutralizing sorbent is a sodium carbonate–based powder combined with amorphous mineral silicate as a sorbent/solidifier matrix. The purple granules contain a pH-indicating dye that changes color on contact with acid — providing immediate visual confirmation of both acid detection and neutralization completion. Lab testing confirms neutralization at a ratio of approximately 2.43 grams per mL of 53.3% sulfuric acid, with complete reaction in under 2 minutes.

Available in multiple packaging options from 2 lb. shaker cartons for spot response to 220 lb. drums for large-volume operations. Shaker cartons allow precise application directly onto acid spills. Larger containers suit high-volume battery rooms, acid storage areas, and central spill response supplies. All containers are designed for safe storage and easy deployment.

Supports Regulatory Compliance

This acid neutralizer product supports compliance with the following regulations:

  • OSHA 29 CFR 1926.441 — Battery rooms and battery charging: requires acid-neutralizing materials be available for emergency use.
  • OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178 — Powered industrial trucks (forklifts): requires acid spill response materials at battery charging stations.
  • OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 — HAZWOPER: requires proper training, equipment, and materials for hazardous substance emergency response.
  • State & Local Fire Codes — Many jurisdictions require acid-neutralizing materials in battery storage and charging areas.

What Our Customers Say

Real reviews from the facilities, field crews, and agencies that count on us.

  • We run 40 forklifts across two shifts and battery boil-overs were a constant problem. The AcidSafe powder makes cleanup incredibly simple — shake it on, watch it turn gold, wait for purple, sweep it up. Our operators can handle small spills themselves now instead of shutting down the area and calling maintenance. The color change indicator takes all the guesswork out of it.

  • Our OSHA inspector specifically asked about our acid spill response capability in the battery room. Having these spill kits mounted at each charging station satisfied the requirement immediately. The kits have everything — neutralizer, goggles, gloves, face shield, disposal bags. No scrambling to find separate pieces during an emergency. AbsorbentsOnline pricing beat everyone else we checked.

Jennifer L. — EHS Director, Manufacturing Plant

  • We switched from baking soda to AcidSafe for our battery maintenance program and the difference is night and day. The liquid spray makes cleaning battery terminals so much easier — you can actually see the acid residue react and get neutralized. Our battery life has improved since we started using it regularly. The free shipping on bulk orders is a great bonus.
