Fluorinated polyethylene is critical for aggressive chemical containment. The fluorination process bonds fluorine atoms to the PE surface, creating a PTFE-like barrier that resists chemical attack from concentrated acids, oxidizers, and organic solvents. Standard yellow PE pallets will fail when exposed to these substances. The 66-gallon sump exceeds the EPA 110% rule for a single 55-gallon drum (60.5 gallons required) but does not meet the rule for two full drums simultaneously. For maximum regulatory compliance when storing two drums, consider whether your facility SPCC plan addresses the largest single container or total stored volume. The higher sump (16.5" H) provides greater containment depth compared to low-profile models, reducing the chance of overflow during a catastrophic drum failure. However, the increased height means drums must be lifted higher during loading — consider using a ramp or mechanical lifting equipment.
