Product Information
Avoid fines and the costly cleanup of harsh chemical rail spills with our two styles of Railroad Track Pans. These modular railroad spill containment systems are available with side and center track pans. Choose either the 20-foot pan length model, or, our unique stormwater feature drain and pan cover units.
Use low maintenance yet rugged track pans to capture hazardous spills from railroad tanker cars. They are ideal for containing small drips in locomotive maintenance facilities, fueling stations, as well as large rail car leaks. Systems are suitable for installation at industrial rail sidings, even where pan drills, bolts or spikes are present. Unlike carbon steel track pans, these units will not rust or corrode
Modular - easy to install
Forklifts or heavy equipment are not necessary for installation and to create a custom length pan set up. Our modular railroad track pan systems can accommodate 35-60 foot railroad tanker cars as well as 60-foot locomotives.
Install any pan configuration combination with center and none, one, or two sides. Refer to our two installation guides below for additional set up information.
Optional below-grade piping
For locations where spills may exceed containment capacity, optional below-grade piping installation will route fluids to holding tanks or containment sites. Manifold installation requires minimal ballast removal and allows one drain field tie-in for each set of pans. Each manifold has a flushing port to remove obstructions like sludge or blockages.
Two railroad spill solution system options
Large capacity composite model
A corrosion resistant fiberglass composite construction ensures these pans are high strength and non-porous. UV-resistant, this composite material offers excellent resistance to hydrocarbons. Connectable center and side pans measure 20 feet long and form custom-length railroad spill containment solutions. They are Pandrol compatible and have a low profile of less than 5 inches high. The pans' top surfaces offer good slip-resistance.
The innovative track pan design includes a number of additional upgrades for a complete sealed pan system. Optional 3in flow-through ports share fluid between pans to increase containment capacity. Secure pans together using a two-part adhesive - no field welding or bulk-head connections are necessary.
Optional seam covers and a rail-side gasket sealing system help prevent seeping leaks. A drainage manifold may be set up to pipe railcar spills away to oil/water separators or holding ponds.
Install the pallet-style grating package, with slip-resistant surfaces, for safer foot traffic. These components use polyethylene construction for durability and chemical spill resistance.
In short-term applications, composite units create suitable containment areas for a variety of chemical spill materials. See our chemical compatibility guide below for more details, including temperature ratings.
Polyethylene Model
Featuring an all polyethylene construction, these smaller center and side pans are lightweight and easy to move around. Assemble the modular 53.5" pans into any length containment area. They offer an economical, low maintenance, and easy set up railroad spill solution.
Join pans end to end with with the included bulkhead fittings (one fitting is necessary for side pans and two for center pans). Center and side track pans have pipe fitting locator molds at the lowest point, for sufficient spacing options around rail ties. Drill out recess molds to accommodate 3" diameter bulkhead fittings (For below grade piping) and connect to a drainage manifold to channel large spills into holding tanks or water separators.
Insert closed-cell polyethylene gaskets between the rails and pans to create a sealed system. Gaskets help seal gaps and prevent spills flowing onto the ballast beneath the pans.
Top surfaces of the pans and grates offer good traction for slip resistance, even when wet or oily. The track pan with grates also create structural integrity to allow safer foot and vehicle traffic. Note: vehicle weight limits depend on the bedding material strength below the rail spill control system.
These rugged track pans are purpose-built to function in temperatures from -40°F to +140°F and to withstand harsh chemicals. A UV-inhibitor in the polyethylene resin helps resists degrading effects from sunlight, meaning these pans have an approximate 20-30 year service life.
Installation is suitable for rail weights greater than 65lbs. The modular system design allows pans to follow curved tracks of up to 12 degrees without any customization.
Ideal for effective stormwater management, our polyethylene pan product line also offers consistent chemical compatibility. See our guide below for chemical resistance details, including a broad range of acids, caustics, corrosives, solvent, oils, and diesel fuel.

Ordering and Shipping
Our composite ultra track pans ship from Jacksonville, Florida. They are too large for LTL shipments and require side-load transport on a dedicated flatbed trailer.
We box the polyethylene side and center track pans separately to protect them during shipment. The units stack on wooden shipping pallets via LTL or full truckload shipments, depending on the order size.
