Product Information
Our easy to use Pipe Socks remove oil and sediments from water during pump outs. It selectively filters, traps, and absorbs hydrocarbons at the same time as instantly letting water pass through.
Available for 8in, 12in and 16in diameter pipes common to sump drainage system operations. The filter sock attaches to the end of the drain pipe, becoming a hydrocarbon and debris collection bag. They have up to 3.5 gal. oil absorption capacity.
Pipe socks are a great solution for dewatering and pumping situations. Including containment berm and collection pond pump-outs. They help prevent stormwater and ground pollution. Use them in construction, agricultural and other commercial industries.
Easy and fast to install
These simple to use pipe socks do not require power tools, adapters or connectors for installation.
Filter socks are for use with all types of drainage hosing. Such as polyethylene, single wall HDPE, corrugated and perforated pipes.
The durable filtration sock is tear and puncture resistant on most ground surfaces.
How to use a pipe sock
Place the fabric sock over the end of a pvc pipe or corrugated hose. Then tie it off and secure in place using the built-in strap attachments.
For higher drainage system flow rates, we suggest also using a heavy duty cable tie or stainless steel hose clamp (not included).
Periodically check the filter sock to avoid clogging. Including debris, sand and silt sediment loading. As well as hydrocarbon absorption.
Dispose of or incinerate in according with federal and local guidelines.
High-performance filter media sorbent
These socks are made of X-Tex, a durable, long lasting geotextile filter media.
X-Tex material is hydrophilic which means it gets wet with water. It includes a proprietary blend of fibers that absorb oil and grease from water without restricting flow through the material.
These qualities make X-Tex different to polypropylene which repels water and so can take longer to absorb oils.
The material offers high efficiency and excellent flow, while trapping sediment and oil contaminants. It is environmentally benign and does not leach harmful substances. And produces minimal residue or ash when incinerated.
Technical Information
Synthetic fiber made of recycled materials.
ASTM D-4491 tested flow rate of 151 gal/ft2/min.
See individual SKUs below for more product specifications.
Compliance Information
Helps comply with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and 40 CFR 122.26 (1999) for Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan Best Management Practices.
