Granular Sorbents — Loose Absorbent Materials for Spill Cleanup

When you need to cover a large spill area quickly, granular sorbents get the job done. AbsorbentsOnline.com offers premium loose absorbent materials including Super Sorbent synthetic granules, Gran-Sorb clay absorbent, CornCob natural absorbent, and Peat Moss compressed absorbent — all available in pallet quantities for maximum value.

Our Granular Sorbent Products

  • Super Sorbent: High-performance synthetic granular absorbent. Lightweight, non-dusty, and absorbs many times its weight in liquid. 12 cartons (2 lbs each) per case.
  • Gran-Sorb: Traditional clay-based absorbent granules (similar to "kitty litter" style floor absorbent). Economical, heavy-duty, and proven effective. Available in full pallet quantities (65 bags).
  • CornCob Absorbent: Ground corn cob — a natural, biodegradable absorbent material. Absorbs oil and water-based liquids with a lower environmental impact than clay. Full pallet (50 bags).
  • Peat Moss Absorbent: Compressed peat moss that expands when applied to spills. Natural, lightweight, and effective on oil and hydrocarbon spills. Full pallet (50 bags, 2 cubic ft each).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most absorbent granular material?

Super Sorbent (synthetic polypropylene granules) offers the highest absorbency-to-weight ratio. It absorbs significantly more liquid per pound than clay, corn cob, or peat moss. However, clay (Gran-Sorb) is often preferred for its lower cost in bulk applications.

Can granular absorbents be used on oil spills?

Yes. All four of our granular sorbents absorb petroleum-based liquids. For oil-only selectivity (repels water), synthetic Super Sorbent is the best choice. Clay, corn cob, and peat moss absorb all liquids including water.
